True North Teammates Having a Little Too Much Fun :)

By Jim Tholen, Managing Partner

As many of you know, we started True North Advisory in March of 2020. We started the business as a totally virtual business which it remains today. We are truly a child of the pandemic.

Now being able to occasionally get together face to face brings all of us excitement, and well, joy. We try to meet face to face once every 3 - 4 months.

Last week we all congregated at Dino’s gorgeous abode in Swampscott, Massachusetts.

It was of course a mix of lots of work and play.  Much of the play seemed to revolve around our very generous consumption of Dino’s very very good wine (and some great food).

The work (I almost want to call it “work” since we have a ton of fun doing it) involved a few key focus areas for us:

  • Confirmation and refinement of our CX/digital transformation industry focus;

  • A longer term/longer time frame look at each of our clients and where we believe they can go and were we can add value;

  • A discussion of our key practice areas (as examples, Go To Market strategies; new geography expansions) and how we might accelerate our work in these regards.

We’ve evolved our business pretty significantly during our first two years; and we are very excited about driving change for us and for our clients as we move forward.

One huge added bonus to our work and play offsite - we were visited by the three founders of LeapXpert, a long time client based in Hong Kong. LeapXpert is now launching in the US with a vengeance and so Dima, Avi and Rina were in the US for that.

We have been working with LeapX for over 2 years - but of course had never met F2F. We got to take Google Meet images and make them flesh and blood…just meeting them was a celebration!

We also had the tech influencer Evan Kirstel join our meeting, both to chat about how we could all work together and more specifically with Evan providing guidance to LeapX  on thinking through how to launch a social media strategy.

One outcome of this whole crazy pandemic experience is these common moments - meeting old friends and new friends, growing a business together, helping others grow theirs - feels all the more special.

May your 2022 be safe and healthy!
